Hello and Happy 2018! Its been quite a while since I have posted, so I thought my first post of 2018 should be a catch-up post. Let me share why I have been so busy. A little history first.
On May 19, 2011, I posted a blog called Loving My New Job (truth be told can’t even remember exactly which website it went live on there have been so many changes since then) which said:
I cannot express how happy I am with my new job. My boss told me today I was quickly becoming indispensable. Yeah! Today was my ninth day on the job. The work is fun and challenging. There is plenty to do without being too stressful.
The website they have been working on for weeks launches tonight. Quite excited to see it go live.
Must rest now. More tomorrow.
2,420 days later, I become CEO and Owner of the company, Firstview Online Marketing. I have learned so much in the 6.5 years – about websites, SEO, online marketing, accounting (still not my fav thing to have to do), business, and about myself. We spent the 4th quarter of 2017 wrapping up items and moving everything to my name (which is not as easy as it sounds and probably deserves its own blog post).
And if you remember in March, I started my side business – Glenneth.Com (aka this website). During the course of the year, I helped several bloggers and companies with SEO, AdWords, blogging and more. I grew it from zero revenue to 4 figures in 10 months. I have a private Facebook community with over 200 people where we talk about SEO, online marketing, blogging, and more.
So what does 2018 have in store for me?
(pictures are from the surprise lunch my BFFs and mom threw for me on the first!)
LOTS OF WORK! I am excited to ramp up both businesses this year. My goal is to grow both businesses by 10% for 2018. As you can see by my next statement, I hope to travel more as I can work from just about anywhere with Wifi. There are so many things I want to do for both companies, I just have to remember I cannot do it all at once and do the big things first.
LOTS OF PLAY! I want to take advantage of being in online marketing – where I can do my work remotely. My motto this year is – say yes to adventure. My BFF is going to Nashville this weekend and I am heading out of town with her. I also have TWO cruises already planned for the year. I still plan on working from Starbucks on Friday mornings.
BACK TO CARB CYCLING! – I definitely got out of the habit of working out and eating WAY too much over the past few weeks with the holidays and stress of buying the business. I have always loved Amanda Tress’ carb cycling programs so I start again on January 15th. Kind of nice for someone to have my workouts planned for me as well as how much to eat each day (although she doesn’t tell us exactly what to eat – which I like).
MORE BLOGGING – My goal is to blog 2x per month on the business website and this website. Both will be mainly online marketing topics. I have a group of bloggers participating in my FREE Blog Accountability Group where we are all spending 30 minutes a day on our blogs. Sometimes we write, sometimes we promote posts, sometimes we update our websites, etc. etc. Those who blog know how time-consuming it can be and how much more than just writing there is to do.
And what am I looking forward to today? MY BIRTHDAY!
Share with me what you are looking forward to in 2018!
